On Vino, Kolobnev, and the 2010 Liege-Bastogne-Liege

We know that the winner of Liege-Bastogne-Liege receives 20,000Euro, and the runner-up receives 10,000Euro. 

A Swiss magazine claims to have emails between Alexander Vinokourov and Alexandr Kolobnev. Here is their article - based on “emails that [the magazine has] procured,” the magazine claims that Vino bought the race from Kolobnev for $100,000. What do we know about the reputation of this magazine, L’Illustre? I don’t know anything, except that it seems that they are willing to either hack or lie to sell magazines. Based on the emails, it seems that Kolonev admits to allowing Vino to win, and that bank information was exchanged.

2011 Tour de France – Stage 9 Wrap-up

Pavé would like to thank Handspun, Clément, and Laekhouse for supporting our coverage of the 2011 Tour de France.

Ouch! Today’s stage resembled a crash highlights reel, with riders experiencing ridiculous injuries due to crashes that are sure to have an impact on both the general contention and day to day racing the remainder of the tour. Here’s a quick rundown of what we saw:

You could be forgiven for waking up late to just watch the final 10k of today’s stage. The preceding 160k didn’t have a whole lot to offer, and after a couple of anxious and exciting days in this year’s Tour I’m sure that many riders, considering the grey and wet weather, were content to chill out for most of today’s stage.
