After several days of heavy rain, the course in Iggore will once again be extremely muddy and challenging, making the battle for the win and the overall even more spectacular. Currently Pauwels leads Nys by a slim five point margin, with Stybar a distant third, 25 point behind Pauwels. Francis Mourey, who finished second in Iggore last year, sits fourth overall, 50 points back. Mourey has had a solid season and would love to podium again in Iggore.

The third round of the UCI World Cup heads to Koksijde, Belgium for its first round outside of the Czech Republic. Saturday’s race takes place in the North Sea coast on the grounds of the Koksijde Military Base. More importantly, Koksijde will play host to the 2012 World Championships in January.
After picking up a pair of victories last weekend, current UCI World Cup leader, Kevin Pauwels has to be considered the heavy favorite. The usual cast of characters will be there, with Sven Nys and Zdenk Stybar looking to stop the young Belgian’s momentum. Last year, Niels Albert dominated the...Continue Reading

1. Kevin Pauwels (1) - A two-win weekend, and the Belgian is looking increasingly difficult to beat. He builds a big lead in the GVA Trophy, and pulls himself to within striking distance in the Superprestige. Combined with his lead in the World Cup, Pauwels is firmly and formidably on top.
2. Zdenek Stybar (2) - If anybody can beat Pauwels it’ll be the great Czech hope, who’s charged to a victory of his own in recent weeks and is steadily the best of the rest. He was a bike throw away from victory on Saturday.
3. Sven Nys (3) – The Big Four we...Continue Reading

Kevin Pauwels once again proved he’s a force to be reckoned with this year picking up his third GVA Trophy victory in as many races. Pauwels out-sprinted World Champion Zdenek Stybar, beating him by just a few inches. Sven Nys and Tom Meeusen rolled across the line in third and fourth, respectively. Pauwels win gives him a massive 12 point lead over Stybar as the series takes a one month break. While many were focused on the action at the front, it was a pair of logs that created the most exciting and dramatic action of the day.
During the first...Continue Reading

Heading into the third round of the GVA Trophy, Kevin Pauwels holds a healthy ten-point lead of Zdenk Stybar and a 14-point lead over Sven Nys. Pauwels will head into Saturday’s race as a heavy favorite as he attempts to win his third straight GVA Trophy race and further separate himself from the competition. Pauwels won in Hasselt last year, but after stumbling a bit last weekend, he has left the door open for Stybar and Nys to strike.
Nys and Stybar split victories last weekend and as of late, seem to be the only riders...Continue Reading
