Jeremy Powers, meanwhile, has won the last three USGP races and taken over the series lead. Trebon sitting out and Geoff Kabush in a distant third, Powers could sleepwalk to the overall victory. Kabush would need to win both races, and Powers would need to crumble disastrously in order to not score the points to hold off Kabush – in all likelihood, we’re looking at a Powers victory of the USGP for the second year in a row.

The front of the race will be a bit more of a question mark. Recent months have seen major races turn into the...Continue Reading

2. Tim Johnson (3) – Now, TJ went to LA to pick up a win and a second place, which follows nicely on the heels of his season’s first win the weekend before in Iowa. The question remains, though – does TJ have what it takes to contend for the victory against a full field of the nation’s top riders?

3. Ben Berden (9) - Ben Berden is staring at the close of his US racing season, planning to head back to Belgium. His win in LA, pouring on a half minute over a chasing Tim Johnson and others, is a nice way...Continue Reading

2. Geoff Kabush (8) - In a 3rd place and a 4th place on a huge USGP weekend, Kabush demonstrated more capability than midpodium results might show, but he rode two very strong races. On Saturday he broke away from a talented chase group, and on Sunday, he pushed the pace for the first half before soloing after Powers and Wells for the second half. Incredibly strong performances. With Powers and Trebon riding the way they are it will be difficult for Kabush to squeeze out a victory, but don’t let that fool you about the Canadian’s form.

3. Ryan Trebon (2)...Continue Reading

This weekend, North American cyclocross racers converged on Louisville, Kentucky to fill perhaps the biggest, deepest field yet this season. Weather was cooperative and as we mentioned in our weekend preview, a number of riders have been heating up lately. The depth of the field meant that racing was aggressive from the gun. Let’s take a look at what went down:

Day 1 -

After Ben Berden took the holeshot and won another $250 prize courtesy of Avid Brakes, Ryan Trebon took over to do what he does best: go hard at the front and ride everybody off his wheel by the...Continue Reading

1. Jeremy Powers (2) – J-Pow comes off a rest week and goes two-for-three in Cincinatti. In the process he applies a big sign to his back for this weekend’s upcoming US Gran Prix races. It says, “Objects in front of you are going faster than you can.”

2. Ryan Trebon (1) – Trebon puts in an extremely capable weekend but can’t hold off

3. Jamey Driscoll (7) – of the many top riders who shuffled positions on the extended podium this past weekend, Driscoll’s got the nicest results, with a pair of fifth place finishes following Friday’s second place to former teammate Powers...Continue Reading

Cincy 3 Cyclocross Festival (C2/C2/C1)

Cincinnati will host its annual three day cyclocross festival this Friday through Sunday. The weekend consists of the Darkhorse Cyclo-Stampede (C2), Java Johnny’s Lionhearts International (C2),  and the Harbin Park International (C1). The heavy favorite has to be Jeremy Powers, who is coming off the potent combination of a strong European campaign and a rest weekend. He’ll be looking for the sweep this weekend. Standing in Powers’ way is Ryan Trebon. The last time these two riders went head-to-head, they split victories, something that could easily be repeated in Cincinnati.

The Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld three-headed cross monster...Continue Reading
